A pattern for you

Little Shell Cowl Materials: Heavy worsted, Aran, or Bulky weight yarn. I used Red Heart Treasure Boutique-1 skein or about 140 yds. and size US9 circular knitting needles, stitch marker, scissors and yarn needle. Gauge: 4 stitches equals 1 inch. The cowl should measure about 22 inches unstretched/unblocked. I use standard abbreviations. Directions: CO 90 and join without twisting, marking the beginning of the round. Edging: (Seed stitch in the round) Rnd1: K1, p1 around. Rnd 2: P1, k1 around. Rep rnds 1 and 2 for one inch. Now knit the Little Shell stitch design for the desired length. I made mine 9 inches total length so if you want yours to be the same then end knitting the Little Shell stitch at 8 inches from cast on edge so that you can then knit one more inch in the edging pattern. Little Shell Sitch: (in the round) Rnds 1-3: knit around. Rnd 4: *knit 2, yo, P1, P3 tog, P1, yo. Rep from * around. When you have reached the desired length of Little Shell stitch, then switch back to the edging stitch and knit it as before. BO loosely. Finish yarn ends and enjoy wearing it! ©Jeanette McKinney, 2012
